Song of the soul.... :)

Randomness..... decided to get some beer on a weekday and ofcourse started playing some ilayaraja music. We clicked on this track called song of soul composed by raja and played by Hariprasad Chaurasia. One thing we knew for sure when you give urself a lil bit into raja's music... thats it... you have no control over your emotions.... he can make a happy man cry and a sad man happy with his notes..

so... we started listening and an idea struck my mind... what if we speak out the thoughts/imagination coming across our minds while we listen to this blissful instrumental track.. Anirudh and I started taking turns and spoke out what we were imagining...

our thoughts were of a man who is taking a stroll on a bright day along the park, bridge, river and the city while he is thinking about his failures and successes in life... the mood of the track is as if it is telling the feelings of that man having experienced pain and joy in life.. it highlights the fact that no matter what you go through at the end of it all .. its all gonna be fine and life goes on... and thats a process everyone can relate to.... the tune is like a sinusoidal mood track, taking you down and pulling you up...

Paatu paadava

This blog is gonna go in the reverse chronological order now...this is the latest song we recorded..and I should say - the most fun. Simple and very catchy tune...sumthing we all wud have been hummin ever since our moms or paatis sang this as they went about with their cookin or reading "mangayar malar" :D

The way this song came about...one of the most random succession of events. We were lookin for somethin light to record, browsing thru the many karaokes, thanks to Sriram...and we came across "Paatu paadava"..Sendhil immediately took to singing it oldies style...and I couldn't quite get it. And so, we decided to blend stuff in - Sendhil with a vintage touch...and me...basically with no touch. Decided that it was to be more comic and jolly than anything else...crass and gentle going together :D

Garage band was awesome in adding the vintage feel to Sendhil's track. Love the way this has turned out...check it out and any feedback is much appreciated :)
